Organic Farming

As we try to provide you with the freshest and tastiest veg we possibly can, we are doing as much as we can to help the environment and local countryside. So for us Organic farming plays a huge part in what we are doing and this is why we work with so many organic farms, to bring you your veg each week.

To start to understand organic farming we can look at King Charles who is a massive advocate of Organic farming and converted his own farm to being a fully organic farm back in the 80’s before anybody was doing it. The benefits of organic farming are fantastic from increasing the soil health, biodiversity, sustainability and having many more social benefits.

What is organic Farming?
Organic Farming is an agricultural system that uses natural fertilisers like manure to help crops grow, rather than using harmful pesticides and fungicides. It also incorporates the use of crop rotation to encourage the biodiversity in the soil and increase the soil health. This is accompanied by companion planting which involves planting two or more plants together so one can act as a deterrence for insects, weed suppression and can also help increase the nutrient supply.

By using these methods, it gets rid of the use of harmful pesticides and fungicides, which allows you to have tasty fresh fruit and veg.

We are also at a point in time where global warming is a huge challenge, water bodies are shrinking, soil quality is degrading. Our air is becoming more poisonous, so now is when we really need to start adopting these methods to prevent the deterioration of our beautiful planet, so it can be enjoyed by the generations to come.
